Mr. Patch is the managing partner of Young & Thompson. A patent attorney since 1989, he holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Maryland, and Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Mr. Patch supervises the overall U.S. patent prosecution of the Firm, and also continues to participate in the drafting of patent applications for filing in the U.S. and overseas, as well as prosecuting U.S. patent applications before the USPTO, and instructing foreign counsel as to the prosecution of patent applications overseas. Mr. Patch has an active appellate practice before the USPTO, and has successfully handled dozens of appeals before the Patent Trial & Appeal Board.
Mr. Patch also works with the Firm’s Litigation & Licensing Group, where he has served as lead patent counsel in IPR proceedings before the USPTO as well as in patent infringement proceedings before numerous district courts and the ITC, and provided substantive patent law expertise to patent license negotiation and license drafting.
